I've heard the term "healing garden" more and more lately, particularly in relation to new or renovated health care facilities.
But a friend of mine asked a good question about this topic: "Isn't every garden a healing garden?" Perhaps.
But in the world of landscape design and architecture, there is an evolving set of practices that are specific to the purpose of helping visitors feel better in mind, body, and spirit. There is even research to support the idea that outdoor spaces, drawing on certain design concepts, can deliver more than the usual benefits of a pretty garden bed along a winding path.
