Grow Your Own Meadow, Large or Small

Date:
Saturday, May 21, 2016 -
10:00am to 12:00pm

If you’ve ever been attracted to the beautiful chaos of a healthy meadow, this two-hour seminar will demystify these ecologically valuable spaces, outline the steps and equip you to get started. Join us at Connecticut Forest and Park Association, Middlefield, CT, on Saturday, May 21.

Description:

What is a meadow, anyway? Is it a lawn unmowed or a perennial bed gone wild? Is it something different altogether? In this two-hour seminar, we'll define the term, discuss meadow ecology, look at the role of native plant species, review helpful tools, and explain steps you can take to establish or improve a meadow. We'll also discuss other no-mow and low-mow approaches to durable groundcovers.

The seminar will take place from 10 to noon at Connecticut Forest and Park, 16 Meriden Road, Middlefield, CT. Located near route 91, about 30 minutes north of New Haven and 30 minutes south of Hartford, CT. Call Liz Fossett at CFPA for more information: (860) 346-8733
