On Demand Until Monday, May 23, 2022

Would you like to fill the edges and understory of your landscape with durable, attractive ground covers? Do you want to have less lawn? In this talk, we'll consider the advantages and challenges of covering ground with native plants and shrubs that offer not only beauty but a quieter no-mow environment and sustenance for birds, pollinators, and other creatures. We’ll discuss low-growing flowering perennials, shrub beds, native ornamental grasses, sedum, ferns, moss, and low-mow grass mixes that replace conventional lawns. We'll also touch on the roles of soil, site preparation, water, and site selection in successful ground-covering strategies.

Extensive plant and resource lists included. Sponsored by Tower Hill Botanical Garden, Boylston, MA.
