Create Foundation Gardens That Welcome Native Plants

Date:
Wednesday, October 20, 2021 -
10:00am to 11:00am

In this one-hour presentation, we first consider the design problems posed by the foundation area around homes and other buildings. Then we look at the natural elements of our New England landscape, and how we can incorporate them into foundation gardens.

The foundation garden need not be a bastion of imports such as pachysandra and boxwood! Among regional native plants, there are flowering perennials, shrubs, grasses, trees, and ferns that both provide habitat for birds and pollinators as well as a pleasing appearance. Let's take a look at how we can achieve curb appeal and co-exist with nature.

This talk is accompanied by extensive design resources and plant lists.
