As caretakers of our home and community landscapes, we make planting choices all the time. Why should native plants be prominent among our selections? And what is a native plant?
In this talk, we discuss the definition of “native” and the important role of native plants in supporting birds and pollinators. We also discuss ways to use them, how to identify good selections, and dispell some persistent myths about native plants. The presentation covers for buying native trees, shrubs, perennials, and grasses. Handouts include useful plant lists and important reference sources.
