Rescheduled: Dec. 14, 12:30. Create Foundation Gardens That Say ‘Welcome Home’ to Native Plants

Date:
Monday, March 16, 2020 -
7:00pm to 8:00pm

How can we bring beautiful native plants into the foundation garden, that traditional bastion of boxwoods and pachysandra? In this one-hour talk, we'll look at two ways to answer the question.

First, we'll consider the fundamental design problems posed by buildings, driveways, sidewalks, and other structures. I'll suggest a few new ways of looking at the home or community landscape. Then, we'll look at the many native shrubs, small trees, perennials, and groundcovers that suit foundation-area gardens.

An extensive handout is included with this talk, listing upwards of 100 plants as well as many design resources.
