Native Plants for the Home and Community

Date:
Tuesday, July 16, 2019 -
6:45pm to 7:45pm

As home and community gardeners, we make planting choices all the time. Why should native plants be prominent among our selections? And what is a native plant? In this talk, we discuss the definition of “native” and the important role of native plants in supporting birds and pollinators. We also discuss how to use them in the home and community landscape and dispell some persistent myths about native plants. The presentation also covers resources for identifying and buying native trees, shrubs and perennials. Informative handout includes lots of references and resources.

Sponsored by the North Stonington Garden Club. Presentation at the North Stonington Senior Center, 391 Norwich-Westerly Road (Rt. 2).
