Stop & Smell the Herbs...in February

Who says you can't smell the herbs in February? This weekend, I used all of these--sage, savory, lavender, leeks--and they were all all highly aromatic at 22 degree F.

Dwarf Sage in the snow

Dwarf sage, above, was not at a loss for flavor.

Lavender in snow

Lavender retains its wonderful scent in any season --and looks better than expected under the circumstances.

Winter Savory in snow

Winter savory, above, looked like winter had never happened.

Leeks in snow and mulch

And then there are the ever-reliable leeks beneath 8" of mulch.
