Grow Your Own Meadow: Large or Small

Date:
Saturday, May 30, 2015 -
1:00pm to 3:00pm

If you’ve ever been attracted to the beautiful chaos of a healthy meadow, this two-hour seminar will demystify these ecologically valuable spaces, outline the steps and equip you to start this year--or next! Join us for a two-hour seminar at Connecticut Forest and Park Association in Rockfall, CT.

Description: Learn to establish, care for, and feed your meadow. Kathy will discuss what a meadow is, meadow ecology, the role of native species, and steps you can take right now to start planting a new meadow or to encourage an existing meadow to grow. She'll also discuss deer and other pests, sources of supply, books and web sites, and planting techniques.

Plants and materials: This event is cosponsored by New England Wildflower Society. After the lecture, you can purchase native seedlings grown especially for this event by NEWFS at Nasami Farm, as well as other useful materials. Cash or checks accepted. Those who preregister by February 25 can order their plants ahead of time.

Coffee and tea provided. Seminar will take place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Connecticut Forest & Park headquarters, 16 Meriden Road, Rockfall, CT. Located about 40 minutes west of Hartford, CT near Route 91.
